Ralbru Games didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started during lockdown.
Like many families during Covid, we were stuck at home and like many parents, we were watching screen time creep higher and attention spans get shorter.
So we decided to build something simple.
Something that would get our twin boys off their phones and back to playing face-to-face.
That’s where the first version of ButtChess was born.
And yes they chose the name.
It made them laugh. It made their friends laugh.
And honestly? It made people pay attention.
What started as a fun, slightly ridiculous idea at the kitchen table quickly turned into something more serious a genuinely strategic abstract game that was easy to learn but surprisingly deep.
We believe great games don’t need hundreds of pieces or complicated rulebooks.
They need:
Every Ralbru game is built around simplicity, balance, and strategic depth . Easy to start. Hard to master. Impossible to play just once.
Abstract games strip everything back. No themes to hide behind. No luck to blame. Just you, your decisions, and the person sitting across from you. Whether it's a 5-minute travel match or an intense rematch at the table, we design games that create genuine connection the kind that sparks laughter, rivalry, and “best of three?”
What began as a way to bring two boys back to the table has grown into a small but ambitious collection of fast, competitive games designed for real life:
We’re still driven by the same goal: Create simple games that pull people together. No screens required. Whether you're a seasoned strategist or completely new to abstract games, we hope Ralbru becomes part of your table, wherever that table happens to be.Thanks for being part of the journey.

Over the past few months, our focus has been on growing our presence in the retail industry and bringing our games to even more people. We’ve been working to get more of our titles onto store shelves, introducing new games for our existing fans, and continuing to spread the fun of strategy travel games.
At the start of the year, we attended both the Spring Fair and the London Toy Fair. These were great experiences for us, we met some amazing people, built strong connections, and had plenty of valuable conversations about how to make our games appeal to an even wider audience.
We recently returned from the UK Games Expo, where it was fantastic to reconnect with our community, meet new players, and showcase what we've been working on.
The event was a huge success for us. We had productive meetings with companies such as Zatu Games and were pleased to catch up with familiar faces from Play It Now, Dice & Destiny, and Love Board Games. We also had the opportunity to discuss future opportunities with content creators including Brad & Kate and Robyn from Scratchitoff Board Games.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The feedback, enthusiasm, and support for our new game were incredible, and we thoroughly enjoyed demoing it to so many people throughout the weekend. Seeing players engage with the game, share their thoughts, and return with friends and family to play again was especially rewarding. The overwhelmingly positive response reinforced our excitement for the future and marked another important step in growing our presence within the strategy and travel game market.
